Russell J. Henley age 82 of Acton passed away on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Emerson Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary Louise (McFarland) Henley.
Born in Waltham on February 14, 1928 he was the son of the late Clarence P. and Ruth (Phelps) Henley.
Raised and educated in Lexington Mr. Henley enlisted in the United States Navy proudly serving his country in both World War II and the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged from duty in 1954.
Mr. Henley returned home and soon settled in Acton where together with his wife they raised their loving family together.
Mr. Henley was self-employed as a master carpenter at Henley Woodworking, Inc. where he constructed many homes and refurbished historical locations throughout the area. He was well known for his craftsmanship and attention to detail.
He was a long-time member of the VFW Post in Acton and enjoyed working in his carpentry shop and spending time with his loving, caring and devoted family.
He is survived by his children Russell J. Henley Jr, and Brenda Blake both of Acton and Susan Coulson of Greenville, NH, four grandchildren, Kimberly, Shaun and Kristen Blake and John W. Hathaway, III and three great-grandchildren Dylan R. Blake, Jared T. Blake and Maddison Blake-Argon. He was also survived by his sister Marjorie Nichols and her husband Harold from MO.
