Ruth Eloise (Daniel) Chappell age 88 of Concord died peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. She was the wife of 66 years to Jack E. Chappell.
Born in Maywood, Illinois on August 31, 1929 the daughter of the late Thomas and Beetha (Camplin) Daniel of Downers Grove, IL. Ms. Chappell was raised in Downers Grove, IL graduating from Downers Grove High School in 1947, and from Purdue University School of Home Economics in 1951.
Mrs. Chappell was a woman of many interests, including the raising of her three children and supporting her husbands career through seven relocations across the Midwest and Northeast. During this time she served as troop leader for both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America. Her interests were many as evidenced by her passion for gardening, quilting, sewing, cooking, decorative painting and rug braiding to name but a few. She also loved exploring nature and thoroughly enjoyed long bike rides, hiking in Estabrook Woods and her beloved Springer Spaniel, Abby, and climbing various mountains in New Hampshire. She was a frequent participant in water aerobics and in later years became an inveterate traveler with a group of "Women Over 40", rafting down the Snake River in Idaho, camping in Copper Canyon in Mexico and kayaking in Vieques, Puerto Rico. Above all else, Mrs. Chappell cherished her connection with the Trinitarian Congregational Church in Concord, MA and counted many of its members her dearest friends.
Mrs. Chappell is survived by her three children, Lynn Chappell Frantz and her husband Bradley of Indianapolis, IN, John D. Chappell of Morganton, NC and Barbara L. Chappell of Sanibel, FL. She is also survived by her four grandsons as well as Jack E. Chappell her husband of 66 years.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Ruth on Monday, June 18 at 2:00 pm in the Trinitarian Congregational Church, 54 Walden St., Concord.. Interment in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, private.
