Susan Earnshaw Baldwin, 92, passed away peacefully at home in Concord MA, surrounded by her loving family. She suffered briefly from cancer. Susie grew up in Glendale OH, the daughter of Edward and Marian Earnshaw. She graduated from Briarcliff Manor College.
Susie is survived by her children Peggy Briggs (Rick Briggs), Sarah Kavanagh (Cameron Douglas), Bobby Baldwin, and Emily Shanks, along with ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, with a fourth on the way. She is also survived by her beloved dog Millie. She was predeceased by her brother Don Earnshaw.
After raising her family in Lincoln, MA, Susie embarked on a rewarding career. She worked for the development office at Harvard, then she fulfilled a lifelong dream of moving to Washington, DC and working for the Senate. She subsequently worked for Russell Reynolds and then for a number of well-known Concord institutions. In Concord, she was an enthusiastic team member at the Chamber of Commerce, Barrett Real Estate, and the development offices of Concord Academy and the Concord Free Public Library Corporation. She was on the Board of the Concord Art Association and the Concord Players.
Susie enjoyed her life to the fullest. She loved to dance and listen to music of all kinds. She was a top-notch piano player frequently entertaining her friends and family with the Maple Leaf Rag and leading Christmas Carol sings for the neighborhood. She was an avid tennis, paddle tennis and golf player and frequently won the town of Lincoln tennis tournaments. She enjoyed her summers on Nantucket where she got together with old friends for her favorite activities, including sitting on the beach and swimming in the waves. Susie’s happiest moments were when she was surrounded by her family. She loved to spend time with each of her children, all in different locations, and all her grandchildren. She especially loved having her family together in Nantucket to sit on the beach or go for a sail on a calmish day: “Mom’s kind of sailing day”. She was always interested in politics and spent time in Lincoln canvassing and getting out the vote.
Susie was a member of the Trinitarian Congregational Church in Concord, where a service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 10:30 am.
She would appreciate contributions to the Concord Free Public Library Corporation. (www.cfplcorp.org)
