Tyler Ryan

September 18, 1991 — April 28, 2010

Tyler W. Ryan, age 18 of Concord, took his own life on Wednesday, April 28, 2010. He was the proud son of William J. and Martha H. (Stengel) Ryan and loving brother of Christopher B. and Kendall A. Ryan.

Born in Newton on September 18, 1991, Tyler graduated from The Fenn School in 2007. There he served as School President and was the recipient of The Faculty Prize. This award recognizes the student whose breadth, quality and consistency of involvement in the life of the school have best exemplified the faculty’s ideals for Fenn students.

Later he attended Concord-Carlisle High School where he was an excellent student as well as active in sports and activities including CCHS Football, Up and Out, and Book Pals.

Outside of school, he was a member in the Trinitarian Congregational Youth Group, and worked as a counselor at Star Camps. Tyler loved to travel abroad and was planning a service trip to Tanzania this summer.

When recently asked (in preparation of his up-coming college search) how he would describe himself, he said this:

"As an individual, I would categorize myself as a person with a natural lust for laughter, who enjoys the little things in people. I feel an obligation to help others...I work hard to get where I am in life, but I don't forget about the other guy. I love being surrounded by friends and I try to keep an open mind toward the day ahead."

Tyler touched many lives wherever he went. He could light up a room with his smile and his wonderful sense of humor, and had wisdom beyond his years for knowing the right thing to say. As a result, he had a large and loving circle of family and friends who will miss this bright, handsome and full-of-promise young man..

Besides his loving parents and siblings he is survived by his grandmother, Ellie K. (Browne) Stengel and his two uncles Rob and Brad Stengel and many caring and loving friends.
