William S. Malcom

May 2, 1922 — January 19, 2014

William Sheldon Malcom of Concord MA passed on January 19, 2014. Born in New York City in 1922, he spent his formative years in the town of Saranac Lake NY, and Norfolk CT. He attended St. Paul's School in Concord NH, and during his third year at Harvard University he received his commission from the Naval ROTC.

He served on an attack transport carrier in the Mediterranean and the Pacific during World War II. While on leave, he met Elinor Bliss of Chestnut Hill, MA and they married in 1946. After the war he resumed his degree at Harvard, and they eventually settled in Concord MA, spending summers on Cape Cod.

He worked in sales at Mass Mohair Plush Company, Polaroid, PM Industries, and was president of Fallula Paper Company. Subsequently he started Baker and Malcom Company as a manufacturer's rep specializing in packaging. He was Treasurer of Trinity Episcopal Church; a Director at Judge Baker Children's Center; Board Member of the Manomet Center for Conservation Sciences; Commodore of the Buzzards Yacht Club; and President of the Concord Art Association. He loved sailing, bird watching, golfing, wood carving, and in his later years became an accomplished painter.

He adored all kinds of music, but mostly he loved his family. He is survived by his wife Elinor; his four sons William, David, Stephen, and Richard; eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren with one more due to arrive this spring. He was greatly loved.
