Win Hindle of Concord died on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 with his wife Sarah and family by his side. Win was born on September 7, 1930 and raised in South Dartmouth by his parents, the late Eleanor and Winston Hindle Sr.
Win and Sarah have lived in Concord many years where they raised their three children - Karen, Gail and Gage. Last December they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
He was a graduate of Deerfield Academy and Amherst College and later went on to MIT Sloan School earning an MBA in Business Administration.
Win had a distinguished and successful 32 year career at Digital Equipment Corporation, starting as an Assistant to the President and retiring as a Senior Vice President of Operations. He served on many boards since retirement. The Emerson Hospital Board of Directors continued to be his "retirement career" these last 21 years. He also served as a Trustee on the Wheaton College Board, being the Chair of the Board as the college successfully went co-ed. He was a Trustee of the Concord Museum where Sarah has spent years volunteering, and an active participant at the West Concord Union Church.
Family was the center of Win's life. Holidays, birthdays and vacations were celebrated and cherished. He adored spending time with his grandchildren as well as many happy summers at their home in Nantucket. Win was a long time member of the Concord Country Club and Sankaty Head Golf Club where he enjoyed many rounds of golf with family and friends. Win and Sarah enjoyed travel, and among the highlights were family trips to Hawaii, the Galapagos and a Kenyan Safari.
His daughters, Karen Donoghue and Gail Hindle live in Concord, and his son, Gage and his wife, Julie, live in Encinitas, CA. Nothing gave Win more pleasure than to interact with his six grandchildren in numerous games. Patrick Donoghue and his wife, Kelly, Conor and Brendon Donoghue, and Taylor, Kayla and Keane Hindle will certainly miss those challenges. Other contenders in family games were his two brothers Peter Hindle of South Dartmouth and the late Tom Hindle of Gardner, MA.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Win at 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 20, at the West Concord Union Church where he and Sarah have been active since 1965. The church is located at 1317 Main St., (Rte. 62), Concord.
